Ryan Seacrest is the Devil

April 25th, 2007 · 5 Comments

He made Jordin cry. That was so not nice.
I mean, I’m glad that for the benefit concert they decided not to vote anyone off, but picking on Jordin like that?
There is a special place in hell for people who make Jordin cry.

LaKisha?

April 24th, 2007 · 5 Comments

More of you people are saying that LaKisha is next to go than I am comfortable with.
My thoughts are that either Chris, Phil, or Blake is likely to be voted off next, although I am leaning toward Chris, with Fish-Eyed Freaky Boy (as our girls call him) being a close second.
But so far three of [...]

What makes a good day?

April 23rd, 2007 · 6 Comments

Today at the restaurant, I had an intellegent conversation with one of the cooks (who is a percussionist) about Miles Davis.
Discussing Miles is a very, very good thing. Almost as good as listening to Miles.
That alone made it a good day.

Celebrated!

April 15th, 2007 · 5 Comments

I’ve been reading your bulletins again, fellow PCA churches.
The Lord’s Supper is celebrated. It is not merely observed (we take part in it: we don’t just take notice of it). It is not “served” (we are not a restaurant). And for goodness sake, it isn’t “held” (that’s the latest one [...]

Kai Ryssdal.
I still like Lakshmi Singh, but Kai Ryssdal gets my vote today.
Although Sylvia Poggioli will always be a favorite too.
Let’s face it, the most fun names to say are all on public radio!

ESV Stuff

April 13th, 2007 · 14 Comments

I like the ESV a lot. I have long been a fan of the RSV, and the ESV is about 95% identical to the RSV, which is a good thing. If these were available in the RSV and the RCL, I would get them and use them. Alas, the RCL version is [...]

AI

April 10th, 2007 · 4 Comments

Watching AI right now. Missed the first singer. LaKisha sounded good. Of course. Paula and Simon were off base with their comments: she did a great job.
Chris R. was obnoxious.
Haley sounds like a 55 year old woman in the church choir. What’s with that wobble? Ok, she just [...]

Easter Sunday

April 8th, 2007 · 5 Comments

What a nice group we had for worship today! All those Dutch people arrived from their travels to join us, Too bad they sat way in the back of the church. Also too bad that they weren’t there to supply the built-in descant for “Jesus Christ is Risen Today” (EASTER HYMN).
(For those [...]

Good Friday

April 6th, 2007 · No Comments

Some timely thoughts from Martin Luther and D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, via Presbyterian Thoughts:
Luther shows the necessity of attending all services of the church. It seems that Martyn-Lloyd Jones has said something similar, and we must heed these words. Since the Spirit is sovereign, the Church does not know at what time He will move in [...]
