Whether you are a Democrat or Republican, left, right, center, or none of the above, if this doesn’t upset you, there is something wrong with you. Whatever happened to teaching children about freedom of speech? Heck, whatever happened to teaching chlldren to think for themselves rather than browbeating children to agree with the teacher?
As I wrote in the comments section on WonderGirl’s blog, here is the contact information for the Buncombe County (NC) School Board. There was to be a board meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern) I would assume this subject was raised, but I don’t know exactly when the story broke.
UPDATE: Ms. Harris (the teacher in question) is a former employee of the Buncombe County School System (imagine that). She now is in Cumberland County (Fayetteville), which is a military community (!). The Cumberland County Schools have posted a response on their web site.
